Urban Planning and Community Development Intern

CA's Community Development and Sustainability Bureau is now seeking a qualified candidate for an exciting unpaid internship opportunity in urban planning and community development. Hands-on experience to improve the livability, connectivity and vitality of a community of 100,000 people await a motivated, energetic conscientious college student who is seeking an accredited internship. Duties may include civic engagement, research on best practices and GIS mapping in support of community planning projects; writing/documentation for community development projects; writing/documentation for community development projects and initiatives; agency coordination and more. CA is looking for a recreation assistant who will be responsible for assisting in researching, developing, implementing, planning, coordinating and conducting educational, social and recreational programs as outlined in the Drop-In Open Recreation and Enrichment Program grant for youth and teens grades 4-12. PTDS will have a working knowledge of all aspects of CA's Personal Training program. This position is located in the Columbia Teen Center in the Oakland Mills Village Center. Under the direction of the CA Director of Personal Training, the PTDS will be challenged with increasing personal training business for CA. PTDS will have a working knowledge of all aspects of CA's Personal Training program. Candidate must possess excellent communication, customer service and sales skills and must meet all requirements of a CA Personal Trainer. Must have at least a current Personal Training certification through an NCCA accredited certifying organization. Experience as a personal trainer and college degree preferred but not required. Project Manager (CSS)

CA is in search of a highly qualified Project Manager who will be responsible for the successful launch of the Customer Service System (CSS) custom-developed software project. This position is required to assess the custom-developed software program currently in production to determine if the application meets the functional and business requirements established, is built on solid architectural foundation, can be sustained and maintained for many years, and has the capability to support future modifications. The Project Manager will make a recommendation as to the viability of the current application and provide options to proceed accordingly. This is a temporary, full-time position until the completion of the CSS project. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with an MBA highly desired and ten (10)+ years of progressively responsible IT project management experience in application development. Recording Secretary - CA Board of Directors

CA seeks a Recording Secretary for Board of Directors meetings. This is a part-time, evening position reporting to the Executive Assistant to the President. The Recording Secretary will (i) monitor audit recording equipment during meetings; (ii) prepare draft meeting minutes; (iii) prepare talking points during meetings for use by CA Board Members/staff for communication with the public and media; and (iv) work with Board Committee Chairpersons/ Chief Staff Liaisons as necessary. Experience drafting meeting minutes required, and talking points preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required, and audio recording equipment preferred.
