National Night Out Against Crime is Tuesday, August 3

Howard County residents are invited to join the thousands of other communities across America in supporting this crime prevention effort.

Residents will be asked to turn on all outside lights and spend time at neighborhood events and block parties

Safety tips are provided by the Howard County Department of Police.

Q: Do I have to live in Columbia to belong to the Columbia Association?
A: No. Anyone can join a membership. Those residing or working full time on property protected by CA covenants can receive a discount on membership prices.

Q: What defines a two-member membership?
A: Two people permanently residing at the same address.

Q: What's the difference between Package Plan and Package Plan Plus?
A: Package Plan Plus is a more personal membership. There are areas within the health clubs in which specialized equipment, programs and personal service are present. These areas and services are only available to Package Plan Plus members.

Q: What is the price of membership?
A: Prices vary per family and membership. The Membership Service Center team would be happy to consult with you directly to answer what the price of your membership would be. Visit the Membership Service Center at 10221 Wincopin Circle, Columbia, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or call 410-730-1801 or e-mail MSC@ColumbiaAssociation.com for a personal and confidential evaluation. Q: What is the length or term of membership?
A: Except for the seasonal pool and tennis memberships, all memberships are for a minimum of one year with automatic one-year renewals.

Q: How does CA define a family for membership purposes?
A: A family is two adults and any dependent children, under the age of 23, who reside at the same address.

Q: What is the Member Assistance Program?
A: The Columbia Association's Member Assistance Program is designed to help you get the most out of your membership. Each new member receives an initial 30-minute orientation with a personal Member Assistant. MAs are specially trained staff who have the responsibility of ensuring that each new member understands their member benefits and can immediately begin to enjoy membership. Your MA will discuss any specific goals you have and will help orient you with the facilities and any aspect of the Columbia Association.

Q: Are CA facilities open during inclement weather?
A: When Howard County Schools are delayed, there will be no classes or programs before 11 a.m. When the school system is closed, please call the CA Inclement Weather Hotline at 410-715-3154 after 11 a.m. for updates.

Q: As a member, can I bring a guest to a facility?
A: Yes, if you accompany your guest at time of admission and use a guest pass. Package Plan and Package Plan Plus members receive free guest passes when joining or renewing and may purchase books of discounted passes from the Membership Service Center. Residents who live within 25 miles of the facilities are limited to six visits as the guest of a member. Package Plan and Package Plan Plus members may also chose to purchase a guest membership — valid for two months — for guests who reside more than 25 miles from Columbia's boundaries and who are staying in the member's home.
