As the Vice President of Community Programs and Services at Columbia Association, Dan Burns provides strategic and operational leadership for a diverse set of programs and services, including arts and culture, fitness and wellness, youth programming and sports.

Prior to his current role, Dan served as CA’s Director of Sport and Fitness. In both capacities, his leadership helped CA significantly improve participation, inclusion and financial performance.

Dan’s 30+ year career in the health and fitness industry has been consistently aligned with community impact. Before joining CA, he was Vice President of Operations at Club One and a national business consultant for the wellness and fitness business. Throughout those years, Dan had a large focus on serving the nonprofit sector and providing operational, financial, staffing and management support. Many of his clients were medical fitness centers and Jewish Community Centers seeking opportunities to better serve their communities.

Dan has been featured in several well-known industry publications, including the International Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) Club Business International (CBI), and presented at conferences for associations including IHRSA, Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA) and Fitness Business. Dan’s favorite thing about Columbia is the way people come together to lift each other up. In his spare time, he can be found enjoying Lake Elkhorn or cycling around Howard County.
