Pilates class

Pilates is a low-impact movement system for all ages designed by Joseph Pilates. This system of exercises was designed to work the deep core muscles of the body to enhance performance in daily life and athletics. It can increase strength, invigorate the mind, and improve balance, posture, and coordination.

We are pleased to welcome back Stella Fanzone, Master Pilates Instructor, to the Pilates team in our new studio at Columbia Gym! She will be teaching a group reformer class on Tuesdays at 5:15pm. Space is limited so be sure to purchase your class package and register for the class online, at the front desk, or by calling 410-531-0800.

The new fully-equipped studio at Columbia Gym features Cadillac, reformers with towers, traditional chairs, MVe chairs, ladder barrel, other barrels, Ped-o-pul, and foot corrector. Classes are open to CA members and non-members.

A strengthening and lengthening form of exercise designed specifically to be performed on a mat. Free for CA members.

Equipment-based Pilates

CA offers a variety of options for equipment-based Pilates classes. The Reformer, the most popular piece of equipment, is one of Joseph Pilates’ original inventions. Beginning exercise in the horizontal plane relieves the stress and strain on joints and aligns the body before adding more gravitational forces while standing, sitting or kneeling. Other equipment includes the Cadillac, Ped-o-pul, ladder barrel, tower, and Pilates chairs.

This one-time option allows you to take three 45-minute sessions at a reduced cost. Your

instructor will introduce you to the equipment and identify the best options for you. $150 for CA members, $180 for non-members.

Private Reformer is one-on-one instruction and great for those who want personal

attention or have any health concerns. Sessions are 55 minutes. Prices for CA members: $75 for one session, $300 for four sessions, $560 for eight sessions, $780 for 12 sessions. Prices for non-members: $85 for one session, $310 for four sessions, $570 for eight sessions, $790 for 12 sessions.

Duet Reformer is a class with two participants and great for friends or family. Sessions are 55 minutes. Prices per CA members: $60 for one session, $240 for four sessions, $440 for eight sessions, $600 for 12 sessions.

Recommended for students with little to no Pilates experience. Strongly recommended before attending a group Reformer class. Open to first-time users only. Sessions are 30 minutes and free to CA members.

In a group setting, apply the Pilates methodology as performed on the Reformer and challenge yourself as you lengthen and strengthen your entire body, working with the spring resistance on a movable surface. Sessions are 55 minutes. Classes offered in different levels, below:

  • Level 1: Recommended for students with little or no experience. Includes exercises on the tower.
  • Level 1/2: Recommended for students with some Pilates experience. Includes exercises on the tower.
  • Level 2: Recommended for students with Pilates experience who want to delve into more advanced practice. Speak to the Pilates instructor before attending.
  • Level 2/3: Recommended for advanced students. Speak to the Pilates instructor before attending.

Do you want greater flexibility for which Pilates classes you attend? Members and non-members can purchase class packages and enjoy Pilates classes on a drop-in, space-available basis. 

10 Class Package

$299 for CA members, $339 for non-members.

*Unused classes expire 90 days after class package purchase.

5 Class Package

$159 for CA members, $179 for non-members.

*Unused classes expire 60 days after class package purchase.

Pilates Reformer Demo - Registration Required

A short introduction to the Pilates Reformer for up to 6 students. A certified instructor will familiarize students with the many parts Reformer, the most versitile piece of exercise equipment. Basic exercises will be safely introduced . This shortened session will include exercises to improve strenght and muscle tone, as well as increase flexibilty and coordination. Come dressed to exercise. Barefoot or non slip socks. Free and open to members and non-members!
