Whether you are new to the game or just looking for ways to improve, Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills golf clubs offer a variety of different lesson programs, as well as private and group lessons. Our PGA- and LPGA-certified professionals are here to provide you with excellent instruction, tailored to meet your specific needs and abilities.

Want to practice on your own? The driving ranges at both clubs are open to the public! Range ball tokens can be purchased at both Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills for $5/per token. Bucket size determines the number of tokens needed. Range ball keys are also available for purchase in volume and are $75 for 24 tokens and $90 for 30 tokens.

Additionally, both clubs offer the new FlightScope® Launch Monitor to keep you on your game! The FlightScope Launch Monitor measures the speed, spin and distance of your shots – allowing you and your instructor to analyze and improve your swing. To learn more, please click here.

Head Golf Professional and General Manager of Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club, Joan Lovelace has over 30 years of experience teaching all levels of play. Joan is a member of both the PGA and LPGA – an elite club of only 200 across the country. Joan was also inducted to the Howard County Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to her sport. Joan’s passion for teaching golf comes through by tailoring her lesson plan to the student’s needs and goals.

Make sure you get your clubs professionally measured and fit for your game! Eliminate strokes from your game by getting properly fitted. Making sure the lie angles and shafts match your swing can potentially avoid serious mishaps and boost your distance a significant amount.

Get Golf Ready

In five short lessons, you’ll know everything you need to step onto a golf course and play with confidence. Lessons include on-course activities guided by trained PGA and LPGA professionals who will make sure you have fun each step of the way! Get Golf Ready is a national program from Play Golf America.

Prices: $110 for CA members; $125 for non-members. Prices include 5 one-hour classes, range balls, equipment for use during classes and instruction from PGA/LPGA professionals.

New! Get Golf Ready-I’m Ready to Play!

For those who have already completed Get Golf Ready or have received pro approval.

Weekly focus on the keys to scoring, instruction, etiquette, rules of golf and pace of play. Throughout the year, there will also be play dates where students will have the opportunity to play nine holes, learn to shoot par and progress through various levels, starting from 25 yards.

Class will meet on Monday evenings with alternating sessions from drop-in clinics to on-course play dates. Clinics will be held on Mondays from 5-7pm and the play dates will have tee times beginning at 5:45pm.

Clinics cost $30 for CA members and $35 for non-members. Applicable cart and green fees apply based on membership during play dates. Contact Peter.Law@ColumbiaAssociation.org to register.

Fall PGA Junior League at Hobbit’s Glen

The PGA Junior League is for boys and girls ages 8-13. You’ll meet friends and compete in this fun and engaging team format! Participants receive coaching from a PGA Professional and mentorship from some of the top juniors in the area.

Format: Team based match play scramble. The season consists of a three-week regular season with weekly practices, followed by a two-week playoff and weekly practices. Also included are a range card, jersey, hat and bag tag.

Practices are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and will begin the week of Tuesday, September 3. Matches are held weekend afternoons. Schedule and start is TBD.

Women on Wednesdays with Joan offers one-hour afternoon clinics, twice a month at 4pm. Topics include short game, irons and woods, trouble shots and much more. The cost (per clinic) is $25 for CA members and $30 for non-members. Standard green fees apply. Tee times after the clinic will be reserved for participants.
