Golf lessons are now being offered at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club!
Open to both members and nonmembers.

Whether you are new to the game or just looking for ways to improve, Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills golf clubs offer a variety of different lesson programs, as well as private and group lessons. Our PGA- and LPGA-certified professionals are here to provide you with excellent instruction, tailored to meet your specific needs and abilities.

Want to practice on your own? The driving ranges at both clubs are open to the public! Range ball tokens can be purchased at both Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills for $4/per token. Bucket size determines the number of tokens needed. Range ball keys are also available for purchase in volume and are $75 for 24 tokens and $90 for 30 tokens.

Additionally, both clubs offer the new FlightScope® Launch Monitor to keep you on your game! The FlightScope Launch Monitor measures the speed, spin and distance of your shots – allowing you and your instructor to analyze and improve your swing. To learn more, please click here.

Hobbit’s Glen Academy Featuring Operation36® Development Model

Most golf programs are incomplete. That is why Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club uses the Operation 36® Development Model which centers around playing golf. Enroll in the academy and track your progress with the Op36 App! Coaches can communicate with you, help set goals, and give you the tools to progress outside of class. Step 1: Play Your First 9 Holes

Coaches will provide you with a 9-hole playing experience with the Op 36 Model.

Step 2: Develop Skills in Classes

We offer weekly group classes for you to attend that are educational and fun.

Step 3: Track Your Golf Journey 

There are three levels of classes as part of Hobbit’s Glen Academy. 

Level 1: Will focus on the fundamentals of stance, grip, posture and swing mechanics of putting, chipping, pitching and full swing. Basic golf terminology will be covered.

Level 2: Reinforces Level 1 classes and will also include basic rules, etiquette, safety tips, how to keep score, understanding tees and yardage, getting on the course, hitting from 100 yards in, getting up and down around the greens and putting from short and long distances. 

Level 3: Features on-course activities such as ready golf, etiquette and course management.

Mastering the Operation 36 Model

Golfers Play 9 Holes from Division 1 (25 yards) 

Instead of starting at the full tee box, all golfers begin in Division 1 and will play 9 holes starting 25 yards from each green.

Shoot Par (36) or Better to Pass Division 

If they shoot Par (36) or better, the golfer progresses to Division 2, where they start 50 yards from each green.

Complete the Division 10 Challenge 

This challenge continues until the golfer can shoot Par (36) from all 10 divisions.

Head Golf Professional and General Manager of Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club, Joan Lovelace has over 30 years of experience teaching all levels of play. Joan is a member of both the PGA and LPGA – an elite club of only 200 across the country. Joan was also inducted to the Howard County Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to her sport. Joan’s passion for teaching golf comes through by tailoring her lesson plan to the student’s needs and goals.
