Whether you are new to the game or just looking for ways to improve, Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills golf clubs offer a variety of different lesson programs, as well as private and group lessons. Our PGA- and LPGA-certified professionals are here to provide you with excellent instruction, tailored to meet your specific needs and abilities.

Want to practice on your own? The driving ranges at both clubs are open to the public! Range ball tokens can be purchased at both Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills for $4/per token. Bucket size determines the number of tokens needed. Range ball keys are also available for purchase in volume and are $75 for 24 tokens and $90 for 30 tokens.

Additionally, both clubs offer the new FlightScope® Launch Monitor to keep you on your game! The FlightScope Launch Monitor measures the speed, spin and distance of your shots – allowing you and your instructor to analyze and improve your swing. To learn more, please click here.

Head Golf Professional and General Manager of Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club, Joan Lovelace has over 30 years of experience teaching all levels of play. Joan is a member of both the PGA and LPGA – an elite club of only 200 across the country. Joan was also inducted to the Howard County Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to her sport. Joan’s passion for teaching golf comes through by tailoring her lesson plan to the student’s needs and goals.

Get Golf Ready

Get Golf Ready-I’m Ready to Play

For those who have already completed Get Golf Ready or have received pro approval.

Weekly focus on the keys to scoring, instruction, etiquette, rules of golf and pace of play. Throughout the year, there will also be play dates where students will have the opportunity to play nine holes, learn to shoot par and progress through various levels, starting from 25 yards.

Classes will meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7pm.

Red Zone Challenge

One of the biggest keys to low scores on the golf course is your ability to get the ball in the hole quickly from inside 100 yards – the red zone. In this program, we will focus on improving your putting, chipping, pitching and bunker skills so you can score better on the course.

The class is $25 per person and will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at 3pm for one hour. For more information or to register, please call 410-730-5980.

In five short lessons, you’ll know everything you need to step onto a golf course and play with confidence. Lessons include on-course activities guided by trained PGA and LPGA professionals who will make sure you have fun each step of the way! Get Golf Ready is a national program from Play Golf America.

Prices: $110 for CA members; $125 for non-members. Prices include 5 one-hour classes, range balls, equipment for use during classes and instruction from PGA/LPGA professionals.


Session 1 will be held on Thursdays from 4:30-5:45pm on March 26, April 2, 9, 16 and 23.
