CA’s outdoor pool season is on! We’re excited for the return of our favorite summer pastime here in the Columbia community. That said, your outdoor pool experience will look a little different this year compared to years past. Here’s what to expect:

Mask Policy

Masks will always be welcome at CA facilities. Our team members will continue to wear them for their own protection for now, and if other pool-goers choose to do the same, we ask that you please respect that.

In alignment with CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals have the option to remove their masks at CA’s outdoor pools at any time.

Anyone who is not fully vaccinated will still need to wear a mask on pool grounds when they can’t maintain at least six feet of distance from other non-household individuals.

Want to learn more about where masks are required throughout all CA facilities and why? Click here for an in-depth explanation.

Chairs Are Back!

CA’s lawn chairs will return for summer 2021! Feel free to BYOC (bring your own chair), but you don’t have to. We will have chairs available.

CNSL Updates

We’re just as thrilled as you are to bring back one of Columbia’s most beloved summertime traditions. At the moment, we are still continuing to assess the best ways of running our summer neighborhood swim league in the safest possible manner. We are super grateful for your patience — be on the lookout for an update coming soon!

Reservation System

Image of kids playing in outdoor pool

Effective Wednesday, June 16, no reservations are needed to swim at CA’s indoor or outdoor pools. CA members, Columbia Card holders, guests, non-members and non-residents are all welcome.

Note: As with all group fitness programs, aqua fitness classes still require reservations at this time. When it comes to lap swimming, the only area that will continue to operate through reservations is lanes 1-4 at Supreme Sports Club. Lanes 5-8 will be open for drop-in swimming for 1fit Supreme and Fit&Play members.

Until then, capacity will be limited to 50 swimmers during the last 90 minutes and advance registration is encouraged. Only CA members and Columbia Card holders are able to register online. The reservation system will be discontinued on June 16. Click here to learn more about the specific COVID-19 safety information at your favorite CA facilities and programs.

To use the pool reservation system, make sure your account is up to date with your current email address and phone number. Please contact the Customer Care team at CMSC@ColumbiaAssociation.org or 410-730-1801, option 6 to make any changes and to get your online account set up.

CA Play members are able to register 10 days in advance. Unfortunately, guests cannot be registered in advance, and cannot be guaranteed entry even with a member. We welcome members’ guests at their reserved time, however, they can only enter if space is available.

Columbia Card Holders are able to register 10 days in advance, and when pre-registering will be able to take advantage of discounted pricing of $3 for Columbia Card adults & kids (Mon-Sun). Non-members may only enter if space is available after members and guests of members enter. Non-member admission rates apply. Non-members rates are $20 for adults and $15 for children on weekdays and $30 for adults and $25 for children weekends and holidays.

The outdoor pool season runs from Saturday, May 29 at 11:30 am through Monday, September 6. There will be no extended lap swim season this summer.

Because there are only 15 outdoor pools opening this summer, there will be no closed days. Pools will be open Monday through Sunday. The final pool schedule will be posted closer to Memorial Day.

CA will provide the same diverse programming as before, which means everything from swim lessons to aqua fitness classes to swim leagues. Program schedules for your neighborhood pool will be released closer to the pool’s opening date.

We are excited for the return of Columbia Neighborhood Swim League (CNSL) this summer! Registration is now open until July 21. It is important to remember that swimmers will have to adjust based on county and state COVID-19 guidelines. Currently, that means no pep rallies or charity nights, virtual meets and restrictions on who can attend practices and meets. Visit the CNSL page for more detail.

Your health and safety are our top priority, so this summer will look different than what you’ve experienced in years past. Here are the main changes to expect:

  • During the day, pool capacity will be at 175 swimmers. In the evening, pool capacity is at 50 swimmers, so advance reservations are encouraged. Current usage (updated at least every 30 minutes) at each pool will be displayed on each location’s page.
  • Our snack bars will not be open. However, food trucks will be available as an alternative at many locations, and you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages.
  • Masks must be worn outdoors around the pool grounds when unable to consistently maintain at least six feet of distance from other non-household individuals. They also must be worn while entering and exiting the pool facility, using the restroom, and while interacting with CA Team Members.
  • Within the water, we ask that members and guests self-enforce social distancing of six feet.

During the day, reservations are not required. However, reservations will be the only way to guarantee a spot in the evenings (with a max capacity of 50).

Play, Fit&Play and Golf Fit&Play members and Columbia Card holders will be able to register up to 10 days in advance from the activity start time.

We encourage you to check your online account with CA and make sure the information is up to date. Don’t have a Spectrum NG account? Contact our Customer and Member Services Center at CMSC@ColumbiaAssociation.org or 401-715-3000.

Yes. Monday through Thursday, CA members and Columbia Cardholders are allowed to bring guests just as they have in years’ past. Friday through Sunday (as well as holidays), members are limited to bringing two guests per family to help control crowds.

Restrooms will be open, but we ask everyone to limit their time in those shared spaces by coming to the pool in their swim attire and showering at home.

Snack bars are permanently closed at the outdoor pools, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drink into the pool facilities (no glass containers or alcohol). Plus, the Aquatics team is working closely with Open Space to allow for food trucks to make regular stops by pool locations as an option to support local businesses.

Play, Fit&Play, and Golf Fit&Play members enjoy unlimited access to any CA-operated pool. Columbia Card holders receive a discounted daily rate and a pre-registration discount for reserving a block online.

All other guests will need to pay a daily admission fee and will not have the ability to reserve their spot ahead of time. Refer to the information about guest admission for more on that process.

Contact our Facility Membership team at 410-730-1801 for more information on membership opportunities and Columbia Card information.
